Overview

"A tiny chimp invokes the universal language, uniting his friends in a group hug to end all group hugs. Just try to resist Jez Alborough's latest charmer! Ever feel like you need a hug? A really big hug from someone who loves you? That's how Bobo, the little chimp in this book, feels. Walking through the jungle he passes lots of creatures enjoying a cuddle together: elephants, chameleons, lions, giraffes, hippos - even the snakes have got someone special to squeeze. But poor Bobo is alone. Will he ever find the hug he needs? Using only the single word ""hug"" throughout the book, this simple, endearing story is told through Jez Alborough's gorgeous, detailed artwork."

A picture book in the truest sense... the illustrations will prompt discussion, imaginative story-telling - and cuddles. Junior; Beautifully illustrated... A must for the very young. Heartwarming. The Sunday Mirror; A festival of hugs. The Daily Telegraph; A book for anyone who has ever felt they needed a hug... The big, bright pictures dance off the page with such exuberance that you can't help but feel happy while you are looking at it. The Guardian; Very endearing and just right for bedtime. A happy and hopeful book. The Scotsman

A fantastic picture book. Baby & You A book for anyone who has ever felt they needed a hug. The Guardian Beautifully illustrated story of a baby chimp looking for love. A must for the very young. Almost wordless, the expressions tell their own story. Heartwarming. Sunday Mirror

Through beautifully drawn pictures, we discover a little monkey who needs something very special. There is no text, because this story is skilfully told through the colour pictures that take us on a journey through the jungle meeting the animals, from elephants and giraffes to snakes and lions. It gives the opportunity to explain to children how parents feel when their children get lost. The elephants do their best to comfort and help the little lost monkey but they cannot quite understnad what is missing. Eventually, they realize that it's one important animal. As his name booms out from the nearby forest, Bobo's tears disappear and he runs as fast as he can towards the anxious sound. He grins from ear to ear and Bobo and his mum give each other the biggest hug ever. Everyone is so happy that little lost Bobo is reunited with his mum that they all stand together and shout HUG!
