Author Information

Jason McCarthy is the Founder and CEO of GORUCK. He began the company in 2008 with a napkin sketch for a rucksack, GR1, that could thrive in Baghdad and NYC. In the summer of 2010, Jason and his dog Java took a 48 state cross country road trip, eventually leading to the first GORUCK Challenge. GORUCK now organizes over 350 community led Ruck Clubs all over the world, produces over 1,000 rucking events per year, and is united by a global community of ruckers. Jason served in the US Army's 10th Special Forces Group after 9/11 and lives in Florida with his wife Emily, their three kids, and chocolate lab Monster. He proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the Green Beret Foundation. Born in the United Kingdom, Alex studied Journalism at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and has traveled throughout the world for various commercial and non-profit clients.
