Professor Emerita, taught 37 years in primary, secondary, and higher education. She developed curricula for the Arizona Department of Education and prepared training programs for Coconino County career education. Lewis also served Flagstaff's Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer. Dr. Carolyn Turner Smith is Professor Emerita, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro. She also served as Adjunct Professor in Interior Design at High Point University, High Point, North Carolina, where she taught a global issues course in international housing. Dr. Smith has taught housing and resource management at the college level, particularly for preparing students to teach courses in high school housing and interior design. Additionally, she has conducted research on housing for populations with special needs, residential energy efficiency, and renewable energy applications. Smith served on the board of directors as a national officer for the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS). She is past president of the North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the national Housing Education and Research Association.
