'In House, Home and Society Atkinson and Jacobs provide a succinct and insightful discussion of housing from multiple perspectives-cultural, design, economic, political, psychological, and social. They show how housing matters in many ways.' -Alex Schwartz, The New School, USA. 'This book makes a compelling case for a critical sociology of housing through its analysis of housing, homes and households in their wider social context. Spanning tenure, the state and the market, the home, housing and identity, global housing and migration and the implications of home-based crime and violence, the book provides a clear and engaging account of the centrality of housing to social research. Its examples and exercises make this crucial subject accessible to students at all levels within and far beyond sociology.' -Alison Blunt, Queen Mary University of London, UK.
