Hola, ¿Qué tal? A Communicative Approach to Learning Spanish provides beginning Spanish speakers with real-world communication activities to help them develop and practice their language skills. I have looked over Dr. Davis' new book and am enchanted by the notion of having quality videos to screen during class rather than using film clips of scheduling screenings outside of class time. It is that aspect that makes this textbook attractive and unique. I have no doubt it will be stimulating and easy to use. What a great use of today's technology to promote learning, discussions, and the enhanced cultural awareness that should always accompany the acquisition of a new language. Maria Davis is a senior lecturer in Spanish at the Oxford College of Emory University, where she teaches courses in beginner, intermediate, and advanced Spanish language courses. She holds a Ph.D. in Latin American literature from Las Palmas University and a Ph.D. in American literature and M.A. in teaching Spanish as a foreign language from Salamanca University.
