Mays is Professor of Political Science at The Citadel in Charleston, SC, where he specializes in peacekeeping, international organizations, and African international and comparative politics since 1992. He is a retired Army Lieutenant-Colonel. He is the author of Historical Dictionary of the American Revolution, Third Edition, and Historical Dictionary of International Organizations in Africa and the Middle East.
