Focused regionally and historically, the dictionary includes more than 200 entries ranging from Persian poet Abû Nuwâs to French author Marguerite Yourcenar. Items include relevant people (both homosexual and anti-homosexual), notable events, nations and regions, organizations, policies, social and legal issues, religious viewpoints, pertinent court cases, and more. Readers will find the dictionary's entries to be useful summaries of major homosexual themes across time and space. They can further pursue these themes by consulting the volume's select bibliography, which sorts items by subject matter. Brent L. Pickett is a professor of political science and dean at the University of Wyoming. He has also served as a visiting professor at institutions in China, Germany, and the Republic of Georgia.
