Author Information

"Shaelyn was born in Georgetown, Texas in 1996, which she absolutely does not remember before moving to New Mexico where she spent most of her childhood. She moved back to Georgetown, Texas in the middle of the 7th grade, which she absolutely does remember. She went to school at Texas A&M University where she somehow obtained a BA in English, accidentally graduated a semester early, and was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets- despite only attending a fraction of her classes in between frequent trips to Northgate. Shaelyn followed in her parents' footsteps by attending the college where they met and fell in love. Shaelyn did not follow in their footsteps in this regard and maintains that her one true love is overpriced coffee. Shaelyn stayed in College Station, writing poetry for fun while also working a full-time job. She adopted her dogs Lacey Loo the Pittie Poo and Lyla Lee the Aussie, and very much enjoys being a Dog Mom. She is very adamant that they are her actual children and will never admit otherwise. She considers herself an ""Aspiring Poetess"", has as many houseplants as she has books, and is an advocate of the Oxford Comma. Shaelyn studied folklore and fairytales while in College, which she uses as source material and inspiration for her poems. Shaelyn will continue to write poetry that is as chaotic and messy as she is and hopes that someday she will write something that someone out there needs to hear."
