Overview

This is the perfect travelling diary, small enough for a handbag. Each page displays a week to view. Featuring distinctive full-colour paintings by one of Scotland's best-loved authors and artists, this exquisite diary is a wonderful celebration of the extraordinary natural beauty of the Hebrides throughout the seasons. Mairi Hedderwick's drawings, produced over a period of forty years, expertly capture the unique character of each island and the diversity of land and seascapes, from wind-swept machair and dramatic cliffs to rolling hills and secluded woods. Following the huge success of the previous diaries, this 2011 edition includes new illustrations.

Author Information

Mairi Hedderwick was born in Gourock, Scotland. At seventeen she took a job as a mother's help on the Isle of Coll in the Hebrides, beginning a life-long love affair with islands and their small communities. Her children were brought up there and now some of her grandchildren. Mairi's island world is delightfully reflected in the imaginary island of Struay where her perennially popular Katie Morag stories are set. As well as creating children's books Mairi writes and illustrates travel books for adults. She also illustrated the acclaimed Janet Reachfar books, which are published by Birlinn. She continues to live on Coll.
