In the modern church there is a major focus on renewing the minds of believers, which is certainly very important. In 'Healing And Freedom Through Truth Encounters, ' Steve Pidd explains that the mind is only a part of the problem. The book explains what the 'heart' is from a Biblical perspective, and how its wholeness is central to freedom and healing. Neglecting ministering to the 'heart' is why many Christians never become free from their negative emotions, anxieties, unwanted, or out of Biblical order responses and reactions. It is also at the root of many physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and relational disorders. Indeed, the Church international would be very different if more work was done in this transformative area. The publication is broken into five sections. It begins with unveiling from a scriptural perspective how healing the broken heart is a major ministry of the Holy Spirit, without which the body of Christ lacks wholeness. It exposes what the Bible has to say about what the 'heart' is, and how it is implicated in every area of your life. Section 2 covers how to receive your freedom and healing, and also how to minister to others. Section 3 looks at the typical roots and beginnings of the issues that we deal with. Section 4 unpacks the relationship between the fallen spiritual World and the condition of our hearts. Finally, Section 5 deals with the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and how He is wanting to work firstly in us, and then through us. Once read and digested, the 372 page publication is an excellent reference and resource.

I LOVE this book & even skipped lunch on the plane the other day and read it for a solid 2 hours.... unheard of for me unless it's the Bible. It's soooo meaty & in-depth - leaving nothing to chance. I generally don't dog-ear pages or scribble notes in the margins but every page has such gems that I want to remember that I'm finding I'm dog-earring (even double dog-earring) pages & underlining parts. I really appreciate how the author 'set the scene' (back story) on topics before giving examples & practical tips. Scripture backed up by science and history is amazing. This is a great disciple training book. Exactly what's been missing from church all these decades (at least!) It's brilliant! Karen J, South Australia Healing and Freedom is a book I began to read through a difficult challenge of a personal health crisis. The book context is indeed Truth Encounters with Healing. Each chapter is a revelation on how easily we are deceived into accepting lies, deceit and pain into a life of separation from God and others. This trap of lies we accept is so often hard wired into our (old) memories and we live half alive but unaware of why we are in distress or have [perhaps] serious life coping threats. The author of this book writes in a very practical manner of the issues involved in our memories, beliefs, rejection, rebellion, anger, unforgiveness, grief and guilt. Chapter by chapter I found relief and enlightenment on seeing the big picture and the amazing priority of God's Love and Truth to restore us to live in the fruit of the Spirit. The authors experience with a lifetime of a healing ministry is made very real, and for me, having a transforming impact. The poignant summary of this book is the real anointing [healing] of the Holy Spirit, proving God's love, knowing the acceptance and grace available to his hurting creation and setting us, as captives, free. I was enraptured by truth so often missing in our modern Church ministries and teachings. An amazing discovery after being a Christian for many years, the work of the Holy Spirit is not dead! A very recommended read by anyone who is struggling with life issues. I believe the author of this book is a good teacher and healer who is experienced in God's Love and Truth. Author Information

Emeritus Professor David Giles is a former Dean of Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. His main area of expertise is as a Professor of Educational leadership. He has a strong faith, himself, along with his wife Pauline working in leadership in their local church. David is the author of a number of publications and travels extensively as an international speaker. Steve and his wife Em have spent the majority of their Christian life serving as Senior Pastors in a local Church environment. They have been involved internationally in training and ministering in the areas of healing and freedom for over 20 years. They have developed and conducted their 'School of Healing and Freedom' in various locations in Australia and across the World during that time. In more recent years their ministry abroad has mainly involved teaching and mentoring Pastors and leaders, as well as churches, to be equipped in the areas of healing and freedom ministries.
