Overview

"Do you wake up every day with a sense of purpose, inner-peace, and knowledge that you are living your very best life? Most people believe ""success"" has to do with one's wealth or accomplishments. Not so, says author and father YPR, who explains to his three children that it is not what you achieve in life, rather how you live your life that determines your ultimate success. Your emotional state and the noble actions you choose to take each day are at the very basis of your success as a human being. The ideal state of emotional fulfillment is what YPR refers to as Happiness. The ideal form of noble day-to-day action is what he calls Heroism.Happiness & Heroism: The School of Being, The School of Doing is a two book series consisting of two letters from a father to his children that impart lessons on loving life and walking a noble path. The first book in the series, The School of Being, teaches the philosophy of the fundamental goodness of existence; mindfulness of true reality; humanity's innate tendencies to feel stress, fear, anger, boredom, and depression-and the antidote. The second book in the series (not yet released), The School of Doing, teaches how and why to choose one's actions with purpose, thoughtfulness, and based upon principles that can be continually refined as wisdom is amassed throughout one's lifetime. In a personal letter to YPR, legendary writer and humorist Kurt Vonnegut wrote, ""Dear YPR, The toughest part of my job is dealing with people who write better and think more clearly that I do. You may already know that Nietzsche said that only people of deep faith can afford the luxury of skepticism. This could explain your aplomb and mine in the midst of moral chaos."""

Reviews

In a world defined by its relentless pursuit of success and an unceasing cacophony of voices, YPR offers a refreshing and profoundly insightful perspective in his two-book series, Happiness and Heroism: The School of Being, The School of Doing. The author's exploration of the concepts of happiness and heroism, intertwined with the deeply personal touch of letters to his children, is a masterful guide to living a noble and fulfilling life. The enlightening journey begins by introducing the fundamental pillars of his philosophy: happiness and heroism. He contends that these two ideals are not mere abstract concepts but the very foundation of successful human existence. The pursuit of emotional fulfillment, or happiness, and the commitment to noble actions, or heroism, form the bedrock upon which our success as individuals is built. Schools of Philosophy and Action The School of Being, the first book in this series, artfully takes readers through the essential lessons of embracing the goodness of existence. YPR navigates the intricate landscape of human emotions, providing mindfulness techniques that lead us toward a deeper understanding of true reality. He does not shy away from addressing the innate human tendencies towards stress, fear, anger, boredom and depression. Instead, he offers an antidote, equipping readers with the tools to counteract these negative emotions, paving the way for a life characterized by emotional fulfillment. The second book in the series, The School of Doing, promises to bridges the gap between philosophy and action, elaborating on the practical application of the principles introduced in the first book. A Guiding Light for Readers of All Ages The author's prose is nothing short of exquisite, effortlessly conveying complex ideas in a manner easily digestible for readers of all ages, including children. YPR's gift lies in his ability to distill profound philosophical concepts into relatable, comprehensible teachings, making the wisdom he imparts accessible and relevant to a broad audience. One of the most endearing qualities of this series is the warmth that radiates from YPR's words. As he writes letters to his children, he creates an atmosphere of genuine love and guidance that resonates with readers universally. Parents in particular will readily connect with the profound sense of care and concern that permeates the pages, making this series not only a source of wisdom but also a tribute to the enduring bond between a parent and their offspring. Amidst an era plagued by toxicity and the pervasive influence of negativity, Happiness and Heroism is nothing short of a guiding light. YPR's words provide a resounding call to action, extending a lifeline to parents and children alike who seek a positive influence amidst the darkness. -Wyatt Semenuk, Booktrib.
