His scientific contributions include serving as Treasurer of the Society for Molecular Biology & Evolution (2009-11) and Associate Editor for various journals, including Genome Biology & Evolution and Journal of Phycology. He is currently an Editorial Board Member for Current Biology, Eukaryotic Cell, BMC Biology, Environmental Microbiology, and Protist Genomics. Dr. Archibald’s research is focused on the diversity of protists and their organelles. He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, and author of One Plus One Equals One: Symbiosis and the Evolution of Complex Life (Oxford University Press, 2014).Alastair Simpson is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Dalhousie University, Canada, and a Senior Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research.^100 scientific publications on the biodiversity, evolutionary history, cell structure and molecular evolution of eukaryotic microbes, with a particular emphasis on free-living protozoa.Dr. Claudio Slamovits is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
