OverviewHaggadah of the Heart was inspired by a need to address tradition in a nontraditional way, with a reflective edge to the current populace of Liberal, Interfaith, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning (LGBTQ) and Vegetarian/Vegan communities. Its eclectic and inclusive design invokes discussion and exploration, that marries modernity and Reform Judaism within a poetic arena of thought and query. Although Passover tells the story of the Jewish Exodus from enslavement to freedom, the focus of the evening is enhanced by relating the past with how it impacts our present day society. We do this by acknowledging the inequities of the world, and recognizing the injustices of humankind, historically and presently. Tolerance and respectful discourse are key elements in extrapolating and enticing dialogue throughout the evening. We take the opportunity of this holiday to come together and share in this modernized interpretation of the Seder, as we deliberate the fabric of a future composed of synchronization and peace. The tone of this Haggadah is unique, as it emphasizes the importance of women and their bravery, albeit not just Jewish women but all women. It reveals how a plan of action built on teamwork, ingenuity and creativity, saved innocent lives, and brought about the foundation of freedom. From generation to generation feminists in action, continue to play a major role in unifying the strengths of United Peace. It is hoped that during the reading of the evening liturgy, one would find meaning and reverence in the spirit of this harmonious holiday, by triggering and engaging a stimulating, thought provoking and respectful exchange of ideas. Haggadah of the Heart extends itself to all faiths and gender preferences, and within those seeds of thought, the Seder Plate has been redesigned to suit the Vegetarian palate. Carnivores should feel at ease, as the importance of acceptance within a diverse world, is within the threads of meaning that bind the pages of this book. Since food is such an integral part of sharing within this feast of freedom, the Haggadah of the Heart includes a condensed cook book of Vegetarian fare with a corresponding sampling of ideas. Some of the recipes are tailored for guests that prefer Vegan and/or Gluten Free cuisine but all of the ingredients are natural.
