McCowan's The Guardian in the Wilderness is one of those terrific books you can't put down. He's a great storyteller.

A self-taught mountain man, who hikes every day in the hills, mountains of New Mexico, even though he has an injured hip. Paul Hoylen teaches art in the Public School System of Luna County, New Mexico.
