Overview

In this book, supervisors share more than 50 activities for the supervision of group work. Activities are organized across four sections: Facilitating Group Development and Process, Model-Based Interventions, Theory-Based Interventions, and Expressive/Creative Arts in Supervision. Each section begins with a detailed introduction by an expert who provides a current literature review. The group development activities are designed to assist supervisors in their ability to recognize and facilitate the group process, whereas the model- and theory-based activities will help supervisors ground their group work in familiar counseling and supervision frameworks. The activities in the Expressive/Creative Arts section contain action-based methods for use in the supervision of group work.

Editor Biographies Melissa Luke, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and School Counseling Program Coordinator in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at Syracuse University. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor, an Approved Clinical Supervisor, and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York. She currently serves as the President of the North Atlantic Region of ACES and Professional Trustee in ALGBTIC. Dr. Luke's scholarship focuses on counselor preparation and practice to more effectively respond to the needs of underserved persons. Dr. Luke is also the Associate Editor of the Journal of Counselor Leadership and Advocacy. Kristopher M. Goodrich, Ph.D. is the Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Counselor Education at the University of New Mexico. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor, an Approved Clinical Supervisor, and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New Mexico.
