Reviews

As a professor of Thanatology and Child Development, as well as a grief counselor in clinical practice, it is rare that I find a children's book about death which I would personally use in my own practice. Goodbye sister is that rare find. It is written with developmentally appropriate language AND illustrated in a way that conveys depth and emotion. Goodbye sister is a beautifully written story which avoids euphemisms, uses concrete language of die and death and does so with a lyrical and child centered approach. The text is comforting, yet direct; a beautiful synergy. The simple concrete explanations allow for children and their families to use this book in a healing and adaptive way. Additionally, books written for and by siblings are hard to find. You have a gem here. I would recommend this book for any child grieving the loss of a sibling. -Korie Leigh, PhD, MPH, CCLS, CT, Child Development/Parenting Coach & Grief Counseling Finding books that are age appropriate and yet specific for younger kids is hard. This book was suggested in an infant loss group so we took a chance on it. Our three year old really struggled with the concept that his brother wasn't coming back and this book helps to explain that to the point, while also being sensitive to the topic. -Parent
