Overview

"""""When is a therapist not a therapist? The answer is never. They are never really off duty from themselves. This small poetry book 'Go ahead I'm listening' highlights how Bliss dives deep into her inner most secret conversations that she has either with herself or with others whilst she is technically not at work. It is an impossible task to teach and coach about unhelpful thoughts and feelings in the absence of one's own thoughts and feelings. Equally to poke around in the brain of others without being the presence of the brain itself. Make no mistake, Bliss does not breech confidentiality of any who have sought her support, so relax to those who are are close friends and family reading right now. The main 'patient' of this book is Bliss herself."""""

Author Information

"""""Bliss August (first and middle names) was born in a family full of music, silliness, table meetings and board games. She grew up in a small coastal town Ramsgate in Kent, England and was inspired by her own mother who wrote a poem about her when she was born (also featured in this book as a starting reference). Bliss has been writing poetry from a young age of 8 years old. Since then her poems, both the short and the long, the comical and the emotional, were all held secret in some beaten up old notebook that stayed on the shelf in her living room. Bliss had childhood aspirations of becoming a ballerina, piano player, dance teacher and ice cream lady (with her own van!) but finally landed in the world of psychology. Bliss now provides treatment to patients all over the world and lectures at a top UK university. As well as that she is experiencing motherhood for the first time with her darling daughter, Maggie. Only recently, since becoming a mother herself and solidly in her 30's, did she find the courage to start piecing together her works which have resulted in this book. Often her writing takes it's place in the 'in-between' times where she steals some time to just be herself when not playing therapist, lecturer or mummy."""""
