Studied architecture at the TU Darmstadt, where he obtained his Diplom degree in 1989. Worked with Behnisch + Partner in Stuttgart (1989) and Eisenbach + Partner (1990 – 1993) in Zeppelinheim. Research assistant at the TU Darmstadt (1992 1997). Teaching post for design at the FH Frankfurt (1997 – 2000). Curator at DAM since 2000, and director of DAM since 2006. Commissioner General, VII. International Architecture Biennale in São Paulo (2007). Commissioner General of the German Pavilion at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, 2016.
