Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationMalik Ismail (born as James Robinson, Jr. on August 24, 1965) is an international writer and revolutionary activist born in Miami, Florida. From an early age Malik Ismail was influenced by Malcom X, Muhammad Ali and the Black Panther Party, which would impact his life in activism. Malik also had an uncle named Ulas Hayes who was a civil rights icon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where his mother's side of the family resided. He had a high regard for his Uncle Ulas, along with his grandfather, Jarrot Anderson, Sr. As an international traveler, historian and writer Malik has explored many cultures in Africa, including Ghana, South Africa, Egypt as well as other places he visited like Cuba, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador Bahia, Brazil including the favelas of Rocinha and Cidade de Dues (City of God.) Recent trips to the Dominican Republic and Haiti would inspire him to write about his experiences with the people there, particularly those of African descent. A former Panther Minister of Information IRU the New Panther Vanguard Movement (formerly known as New African-American Vanguard Movement) whose writings have been published in The L.A. Watts Times, rolling out Magazine, It's About Time newsletter, The Black Panther International News Service, and he has been profiled in The African Times.
