Overview""What happens when a sixth-grade class is left unsupervised for a whole day? A story that is by turns sad, poignant, and funny . . . absorbing."" --Booklist (starred review) Mr. Fabiano--aka ""Mr. Fab""--is popular with his sixth-grade students, but today a substitute is covering his class. Except the substitute never shows up. Instead of reporting the situation, they decide to prove they can run the class by themselves. With a little ingenuity and some careful planning, they might just succeed. But then a fight breaks out between Bastian and Rachel over a classmate, Tommy Feathers, who died six months earlier. Ever since that terrible day, Rachel hasn't spoken--she communicates only by writing notes. It's starting to look like the plan is going to fall apart before the bell rings . . . Inventive and uniquely constructed, Flying Solo follows Mr. Fab's students hour by hour as they tackle the challenges of an unusual school day--and experience a learning opportunity of another kind. ""The rich and complex emotional lives within a classroom of unsupervised students boil toward eruption the day an exceptional teacher is absent . . . A novel that is funny, real, and often moving."" --Kirkus Reviews Full Product DetailsAuthor: Ralph Fletcher , Brian WigginsPublisher: Tantor Audio Imprint: Tantor Audio ISBN: 9798874862732Publication Date: 09 July 2024 Recommended Age: From 8 to 12 years Audience: Children/juvenile , Children / Juvenile Format: Audio Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers. He lives with his family in New Hampshire. Brian Wiggins is a Voice Arts and One Voice Award-nominated voice actor, and has lent his talents to clients such as Southern Comfort, Netflix, Champion, Tyson Foods, and Santa Helena Winery, as well as nearly 100 audiobook and narration projects, including the award-winning Frith Chronicles series. In 2022 he published his first book, The Narrator's Guide to the Universe of Audiobooks. While born in the sleepy South Jersey town of Medford (where fun goes to die), he's been living in Philadelphia for the last twenty years and proudly calls it home with his wife, and their two rescue dogs Dakota and Hurley. When not fighting evil, ne'er-do-wells, and dastards via narrating a great audiobook, he can be found putting his character voice skills to the test while running Dungeons & Dragons games for his friends, or teaching Brazilian jiu jitsu.
