Meagan Call-Cummings, PhD, is an assistant professor of qualitative methods at George Mason University. She specializes in participatory action research (PAR) and other methodologies undergirded by critical, feminist, and participatory theories and pedagogies. She is coauthor (with Kristien Zenkov and Kathleen Cushman) of Fires in Our Lives: Advice for Teachers from Today's High School Students. Kathleen Cushman is the author of Fires in the Bathroom: Advice for Teachers from High School Students and coauthor, with Laura Rogers, of Fires in the Middle School Bathroom: Advice for Teachers from Middle School Students, both published by The New Press. Student motivation and mastery are the subjects of her recent books Fires in the Mind and The Motivation Equation. Her work with the national nonprofit What Kids Can Do, Inc., which she cofounded with Barbara Cervone in 2001, includes extensive documentation of adolescent learning in print and mixed media. She lives in New York City. Kristien Zenkov, PhD, is a professor of education and the academic program coordinator for the secondary education (SEED) program at George Mason University. He has long experience as a boundary-spanning educator and a facilitator of school-university partnerships. Currently he codirects the Youth Participatory Action Research and photovoice project Through Students' Eyes, in which young people document with photographs and writings their beliefs about citizenship, justice, school, and literacy. He is coauthor (with Kathleen Cushman and Meagan Call-Cummings) of Fires in Our Lives: Advice for Teachers from Today's High School Students. Coleen Marlo is an accomplished actor and multi-award-winning audiobook voice artist and producer. In 2010 she was named Audiobook Narrator of the Year by Publishers Weekly, and she won the Audie Award for Literary Fiction in 2011. During her distinguished career, she has been nominated twice for Audie Awards by the Audio Publishers Association, has won numerous Publishers Weekly Listen-Up Awards, and has been an AudioFile Earphones Award winner. Additionally, she has been honored with many starred audio reviews by Library Journal and Publishers Weekly. Coleen is a member of the prestigious Actors Studio and taught acting for ten years at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
