Overview

Sunset is a time of magic, where the clarity and brightness of the day give way to the mystery of night. As the sun sets, it's like the day gives one last burst of energy before it surrenders to the dark. All of my life I have been fascinated by the transition from day to night, watching the sun sink behind the silhouettes of hills and then seeing the slowly changing horizon as it morphs from brilliant gold and crimson to burnt orange, amber, indigo, and finally black. If you are fortunate enough to live above a city you also get the added wonder of the city lights slowly appearing until they twinkle brightly from the darkness of the valley floor. This book is a tribute to the wonder of those few moments where day becomes night. The world is a different place at sunset, unlike any other time. Dawn has a different personality even though it is a mirror image of sunset. Day and night both last hours and establish themselves over a broad area. Sunset alone lasts for but a short time and presents a different face to every watcher. Each sunset is unique and speaks to each of us it's own way. All of us have sunsets that we resonate with, that touch us personally. I hope you find a sunset in this book that touches you. They have all touched me. Rick Syfert Jasper, Oregon 2013
