Overview

As college counselors who happen to be a mother and daughter, Judy Muir and Katrin Lau have unique perspective on the admission process. Finding Your U is the synthesis of their thirty years of work in this field, hundreds of college campus visits, and innumerable conversations with college deans and reps. Not only do they understand the nuances of what has become an increasingly complex process, but they also know that when students and parents can communicate with the correct information, the path to college application can be a time of positive growth in both the student's self-awareness and the family's relationships. In a digital world, the application process is rapidly changing. Finding Your U combines the most relevant traditional practices and information with the most up-to-date aspects of college admission. It provides college applicants with the information, practices and procedures they would receive in a private counseling session and includes the latest understanding of teen brain development. A succinct and accessible format provides a more manageable overview than the current encyclopedic college-counseling guides and will be a useful handbook for domestic and international parents and students who are approaching American higher education with confusion or angst.
