Author Information

Kim Nielsen-Creeley is a writer and poet from lutruwita (Tasmania). She was born in Queenstown, a copper mining town on the west coast, and returns often. The town is re-making itself with a growing art and tourism community. The 'road in' is important, traversing the old highways, the lake areas and mountains. Kim engages with her personal story and the ecological, industrial and political history of the IslandIn 2021 Kim MC'd Poetry for Peace in the Tamar Valley Peace Festival and read at the Hobart Writers Festival as a participant in poet and academic Kristen Lang's More Than a Human World poetry project which led to publication in Island Magazine, along with other participating poets. In 2022 she read at Seasonal Poets in nipaluna (Hobart) and at Dragline Festival in Queenstown, where she also MC'd the two day event. She continues to be involved in local poetry readings and events, including the Statewide finals for the National Poetry Slam (2022), the Cygnet Folk Festival Poets Breakfast with community group Words United and The Tasmanian Poetry Festival.Kim has a degree in Fine Art: drawing remains a constant, closely aligned to her poems.
