OverviewThis work provides an up-to-date general survey of economic and political integration in the European Union. Recent key developments deriving from the Maastricht treaty and the Single European Act are highlighted including the completion of the Single Market, the prospects for Economic and Monetary Union, the Community budget, and the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. The main ingredients of Economic and Monetary Union are discusses and the Maastricht monetary plan is critically explained.
