Overview

Julian Wicksteed's love of travel, history, and architecture has seen him crisscross the European continent many times over the years. His love of wandering the deserted streets after the daytime crowds have disappeared is illustrated in this book of night time long-exposure images of buildings which managed to catch his eye and interest. The history of the buildings and accounts of the past happenings within their walls is well-researched and, at times, quite remarkable. This is a great book for anyone who loves to travel, loves architecture, and loves to marvel at the incredible history of our past.

When Julian isn't exploring the globe chasing surf and fish, he spends most of his time writing in southwest Victoria in his home country of Australia.Since the northern hemisphere summer of 2018 his Angler Walkabout Series has become ocean-bound as he explores the North Pacific Ocean, on his 35ft sailboat, apply named Angler Walkabout. Stay tuned for the next books and films in his series from the wild coasts of Canada and Alaska. He has a science degree in fisheries management and hopes to see his Angler Walkabout Series help to reveal the natural splendor of the world, its diverse peoples and places, and the important responsibility we all have, to conserve it for future generations. He also hopes that his images and personal stories might help to influence more responsible and sustainable fishing practices and laws, both commercially and recreationally.Let the children of tomorrow, in all walks of life, experience the beauty and abundance we still have today.
