Overview

Effective protection of the environment is critical to sustainable development. Which in turn is critical to poverty reduction. Human development and growth will be short-lived if we do not conserve the natural environment and its resources. Environmental protection requires activity on many levels. From preventing global warming to safeguarding living beings from the effects of poor air quality or toxic chemicals and supporting basic necessities for man to survive. There are many ways we can save our planet. Environment effective housing through improved energy efficiency of buildings and effective economic growth through more efficient use of resources, such as re-use, recycling and recovery of waste are just the beginning. Practices such as organic farming, sustainable forestry, natural landscaping, wild gardening or precision agriculture, sometimes combined into sustainable agriculture, are increasingly becoming part of nature and ecology conservation. Environmental resource management tries to identify factors affected by conflicts that rise between meeting needs and protecting resources. It is thus linked to environmental protection, sustainability and integrated landscape management. Environmental resource management can be viewed from a variety of perspectives. It involves the management of all components of the biophysical environment, both living (biotic) and non-living (abiotic), and the relationships among all living species and their habitats. The environment also involves the relationships of the human environment, such as the social, cultural and economic environment, with the biophysical environment. The essential aspects of environmental resource management are ethical, economical, social, and technological. These underlie principles and help make decisions. The concept of environmental determinism, probabilism and possibilism are significant in the concept of environmental resource management. This Text will give you a fundamental understanding of the issues affecting the Earth enabling you to play a vital role in devising and enacting strategies to protect and conserve the environment.
