Can stuffed elephants go to kindergarten, too? Sammie takes Ellie, her stuffed elephant lovey, everywhere. But stuffed animals can't come to Sammie's kindergarten. Sammie and Ellie are afraid to spend their first day apart until they learn that Ellie gets to go to her very own kindergarten in Mama's car. My sister, who is in kindergarten, thought all the things that Ellie the elephant did in the car were really funny. I liked how I could read the book to her as most of the words were easy to sound out. We think all moms and dads and maybe grandparents too, should read this book to their kids, especially the ones going to a new place they have never been to before. Author Information

Lee Zee (a.k.a. Lee Reed Zarnikau) loves to create sweet and whimsical children's books out of parenting moments. Lee also writes general fiction under the name Lee Reed. A freelance writer, editor, meeting facilitator and sustainable business consultant, Lee lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and daughter and a menagerie of furry creatures. Lee holds a BA in English Literature and an MBA in Sustainable Development from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a member of SCBWI and the Writers' League of Texas. A fan of the arts and education, Lee created a volunteer-based music program for pre-schools and enjoys tutoring math and reading. In addition to illustrating, Lee's artistic pursuits include knitting and creating stained and fused glass jewelry and art. Brooke Zarnikau (and her stuffed elephant) not only served as inspiraton for the story of Ellie's Car Kindergarten, she also contributed to its illustration. Brooke drew the smiling heart hidden throughout the book and helped choose its hiding places.
