In addition, he has written for numerous local, regional, and national publications and written, produced, and directed a variety of video productions, including a historically signi cant documentary series on the rst annual national kung fu tournament in the United States: the U.S. National Chinese Martial Arts Competition (1986-1990). He is the author of several novels, collections of short ction and essays, and volumes of poetry. He served as editor of Rice Magazine, the magazine of Rice University (1994-2012).
