OverviewThe International Symposium on Ecological Indicators was developed to explore both the enormous potential of ecological indicators and the substantial issues surrounding their development and implementation. A key goal of the symposium was to assemble an international group of scientists, researchers, administrators and policy makers who could contribute to discussion of these issues. In order to achieve symposium objectives, the programme was organized into 17 sessions comprising 120 keynote addresses and invited contributed and poster papers. The full text of most of the oral presentations and abstracts of the poster papers are included in these proceedings.
