OverviewPersian history dates back thousands of years. Over the years, the rich Persian culture and language, have left their mark everywhere worldwide. One place where the culture is best seen is in the expressive and figurative language used colloquially by everyday Iranians. Dreams of Persia is an extensive selection of Persian sayings and proverbs. This hardcover coffee table book, adorned by a photo of the famed dome of the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque in Esfahan, Iran, presents almost 100 common sayings and their English explanations. Every beautiful page includes a Persian saying or proverb written in Farsi, with a phonetic guide, and English translation, all on full-page, unique Islamic/Perisan art backgrounds. Dreams of Persia aims to present the reader with a small sample of the Persian culture and language, and is of particular appeal to those interested in Persia, or learning Farsi. Second-generation Iranians and those living outside of Iran will also appreciate Dreams of Persia, as it will help deepen their understanding of Persian culture. The book is appropriate for adults as well as adolescents and older children. Dreams of Persia is not a comprehensive collection of Persian/Farsi sayings and proverbs. Neither is it a scholarly work. It is a small sample of common colloquial language used by ordinary people in their daily lives.
