Overview

Featuring over 100 sketches, Drawn to the Edge gives a visual tour of the Outer Hebrides, one of the most remote parts of Scotland. Lewis and Harris are known for their harsh and stunning landscapes, and Barber has captured these simply and beautifully.

Author Information

Anthony Barber was born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1962. He sketched and painted around the UK during his studies in West Yorkshire. In 1994 he and his family moved to the village of Port of Ness, on the Isle of Lewis, where he has very much continued his painting. He does so full time in his studio gallery, just above the harbour and beach. Much of Anthony’s work is based on the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, particularly the Hebrides and other areas on the West Coast. His paintings and sketches are displayed in a number of UK galleries including, of course, his own Harbour View Gallery in Port of Ness. He has had work selected for and exhibited at the  Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW)  and Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) exhibitions at the National Gallery for Scotland, Edinburgh, amongst other locations.
