Overview

"Mystery Meets History in the Hidden Clues of a Painting.... In 1950, Ethel Cordelia Mount purchased a small, unsigned oil painting from the Palm Beach ""Il Palmetto"" estate of Joseph Early Widener, one of the founding benefactors of the National Gallery of Art. This work of art remained unseen for almost 60 years, hidden behind a door in a seldom-used room of the family's home. Finally, in a moment of profound healing and forgiveness, a repentant father gives the painting to his struggling daughter. The painting's new owner travels around the world to consult art restorers, conservators and curators. She sees patterns and symbolism, including sacred geometry and more than one layer in the tiny art work. In fact, to Debra Lynn, the painting represents a challenge and a mystery that her spiritual insight demands she decipher. Her quest finally captures the attention of Dr. Maurizio Seracini, of Da Vinci Code fame, and together they attempt to unravel a 400-year-old controversy. As the mystery unfolds, we are invited inside the author's personal challenges with her alcoholic father and with her ingrained and inherited societal attitudes toward religion, culture, politics and gender within both marital and interpersonal relationships. The painting and her quest to solve its mystery cause Debra Lynn to pose significant questions that all of us may ask at some time in our lives: What historical truths have been buried in illusion and distortion? What guides us when one piece of the puzzle is missing? Where do we find our own center, when the playing field is not as it appears? How do we navigate life, when the beliefs we hold crumble and fall away? What does it mean to make a quantum leap in love? In a time when humanity is facing its greatest challenges, Divine Mirror offers us hope and insight into our own true power and presence. The book leads us from the author's personal abyss, as mirrored through this mysterious work of art, through a transformative healing process. Together, we journey from tragedy to triumph, fear and failure to freedom. Divine Mirror opens a door of discovery to our own authentic male and female balance, helping us to understand each other with greater compassion and love. In this book we encounter what the painting hints at: The Sacred Marriage, or Sixth Way Consciousness. This pathway gives us a taste of Heaven on Earth as we unfold our soul's Divine plan following the trail of hints left for us by Spirit."

"""Divine Mirror is a special book, unlike any you have ever read. Debra Lynn searches to understand a small painting, and in the process, comes to understand herself. It is a page-turning mystery and a true inspiration, a voyage through time and across the globe and deep into the human soul. It is a voyage you should take, for you will be rewarded in many ways."" --William Martin, New York Times Bestselling author of Cape Cod and Bound for Gold ""Debra Lynn takes a mystical look at her past through a spiritual consciousness few of us ever glimpse. The story itself is a provocative and thought filled adventure, and the journey is worth the ride. Some explore the past with a deep sense of curiosity, others get to relive their history through past life reflection. This book does that through the eyes of someone who has been enlightened by her own sense of self and an empowering ability to see her future by reconciling her past."" --Sandi Wright, Ms. Missouri Senior America 2018, Sweet Adelines International, Barbershop Harmony Society and Harmony International Judge ""In this book, Debra Lynn invites us to accompany her on a candid and engaging journey through the phases of her life. She seamlessly interweaves the spiritual implications which pertain to the story. Indeed, I was taken back to an earlier time when my life was one of monastic contemplation. Humans yearn to answer the great questions of why we are and where we are going. Complex philosophies and religions have been formulated to resolve these questions, but their answers are equally incomprehensible. This book provides an understandable and relatable demonstration of the path from our human experience to the plane of true essence. It is not to be missed."" --Robert P. Langen, M.D. ""Divine Mirror is an intense, restless, powerfully written memoir-cum-mystery that grabs and immerses the reader in Debra Lynn's life as a trained operatic singer, voice coach, spiritual explorer, woman, mother, lover, and intellectual. With the gift of a Renaissance-style painting from her emotionally distant father, Lynn is thrown instantly into a search for its origins. Lynn's own deep knowledge of early and Medieval Christianity, the Renaissance and Reformation drives the search. She intersperses her ""fine arts detective story"" with intense questions of her own religious and spiritual beliefs. Divine Mirror is a multi-layered mystery thriller with many surprises at the ending. Readers are advised to place their trays in an upright position and secure their seat belts."" -Joseph Cutshall-King, historian, novelist, and author of The Burning of The Piping Rock"
