OverviewMemantine hydrochloride is not official in any pharmacopoeia. Hence, no official method is available for the estimation of Memantine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical dosage form. Based on the literature review, it is found that studies involving method development for determination and separation are very long, hectic, and utilize various chemicals. A number of analytical methods including LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, Fluorimetry, LC-Electrospray Tandem Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC with fluorescence intensity detection, for individual estimation in formulations/biological specimen are developed. But review of literature reveals that no stability-indicating RP-HPLC method by using UV detector, spectrofluorimetric method, or UV method using Dansyl chloride as derivatizing agent has been developed so far for the estimation and dissolution of Memantine hydrochloride in bulk drug and tablet dosage form.
