Table of ContentsReviewsThis DBT audiobook changed my life Maddox MetzgerI was recommended DBT by a friend, so I decided to start with an audiobook instead of an expensive, specialized therapist. At 7.5 hours, this is the most comprehensive guide on DBT I've ever listened to. It goes further in-depth than any online article I've seen yet. One big thing I learned from this audiobook is practicing self-care, specifically exercise, as a means to regulate emotions. What Perfect Timing D. Luria The title of this book caught my eye because I had never heard of Dialectic Behavior Therapy. But I really appreciated the timing of what I heard. For example, I learned about Distress Tolerance which is my ability to tolerate and respond to sustained and chronic negative stress. The author mentions that this type of stress (as opposed to healthy physical stress from exercise) can affect my immunological response. (I am just getting over cancer, so learning about this helps me return to the safety of only managing the things in my control). While I have sorted through many things from my past, there is always more to unpack. This book is well-researched, highly-detailed, and super helpful for anyone willing to do the work. Easy to recommend. Thorough & Deep Understanding of DBT Jodi Pierce Reviewed in the United States on 5 September 2022 Verified Purchase What an amazing book chock full of information identifying emotional dysregulation and then teaching all the ways to help it! If you are a person who wants to know the why and how of things and you are interested in behavioral therapies then you are going to love this book! The author did a great job of explaining the science of why it works and the how of using it with explanations and examples. It is a deeper look into DBT that may help you decide if this type of therapy is right for you. After reading/listening to it, I have started using breath-work at red lights and practicing mindfulness through observation. I do recommend breaking up your reading into chunks and allowing thinking & processing time in between. I already know that I will be listening to this book again as well as going back through the written book to study the diagrams further! Helpful and well researched Cass&Dani Reviewed in the United States on 16 October 2022 Verified Purchase If you want to improve your life, you should read this book. Peggy Darling is a DBT expert with great tools and techniques for overcoming depression and anxiety as well as difficult emotions. Great introduction to DBT Matthew Robson I personally was not familiar with DBT but a very close friend recommended it to me as I love any kind of self-development therapies. This audiobook is perfect for anyone wanting to learn in depth what DBT is and how to apply it in their lives. I really enjoyed the Chapter about mindfulness as this is something I thought I knew a lot about. However, seeing Mindfulness in relation with DBT has brought way more meaning to this concept. There is a sentence that really sticked to me just because you have an idea it does not mean is true . I recommend this audiobook to anyone wanting to dig a bit deeper in their self-development.
