"Kitchi Feenix grew up in Northern California; a once spirited self, whose love of team sports and social settings helped provide an outlet for a challenging household. Adopted after being abandoned at birth, then repeatedly reminded of not being wanted from those who should have protected her, Kitchi learned from an early age to shut down, lose her light, and struggle to find a purpose; asking Why, and who am I?After being employed in various jobs in her young adulthood, Kitchi wanted more. She enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent the next six years in logistics, then ending her fulfillment as a Sergeant. She experienced one deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and the military seemed to take more than advertised; the hidden secrets and avoidance of protecting victims, Kitchi was ultimately in this cycle of abuse. Instead, she chose to leave the military, reluctantly ending her dream of retiring within the ranks. Yet, this did not break her. Years passed and her joy was wrapped into raising two young daughters, whom she loves resoundingly. Kitchi experienced the meaning of unconditional love through them, and cherishes be able to see them grow into beautiful young ladies. They have been Kitchi's anchor through the challenges and unfortunate circumstances, while Kitchi continued to pave a path towards a better future for herself and the lives of her daughters. Kitchi is passionate, caring, and a great listener who deeply cares about those close to her. She used her ""hard work"" ethic and earned her Bachelors Degree in Science, with a focus on Psychology. While in college, Kitch was introduced to a poetry class and it became a creative process that had never been explored. This opened up a world where she could express the incidents of her past, free of judgement. It was just what Kitchi needed. Writing became a safe, therapeutic way to let out memories and exhale the negative. A deeply soulful person, Kitchi has learned that the experiences of her life have been the catalyst for her to help others heal their past. She wrote Discarded to tell her story, but that's only one part of the why. Her hope is to comfort those in pain by letting them know...You are special, you are wanted and needed. If you find that niche that can make you smile, stay curious, be interested, and have an emotional release...hold on to that...you are worth it. Let your heart shine in the warmth of healing."
