Reviews

Though more and more business executives are talking about digital or digitalization of their business, I have observed that not many of them can clearly articulate a meaningful strategy. This book has provided us a unique model (D-I-R-T-Y). It is thoughtful and pragmatic. We can use it to be more sustainable and to avoid the traps of 'transformation' in a meaningful digital future. Digital will be part of business but not all of the business and Transitions are better than Transformations are wisdoms drawn from David's rich experiences and insights in delivery of real Relevance between digital and overall business. These offer guidance to all executives, particularly CIOs. I continue to believe that people will become more important in the digital future, and we need to empower and enable them more. Let us try to be Lighthouse leaders. Let us try to make changes, every day, to create a better life. Dr LU Jianzhong, chairman of John Holland Board and chairman of CCCI Intelligent Automation (the rise of the digital worker) will transform our workplace: every activity, every role, every job automated or augmented by AI. In Industry 4.0, we are in a permanent state of transformation. Why, then, are executives not giving attention to those hard-learned lessons of successful change that David discusses in this timely and readable book? Industry 4.0 is about people and robots. That's a change that is hard, so we need to reflect and think about it--as David does here. Mike Hobday, former general manager of Automation Europe, IBM David's deep experience as a technology leader shines through in the relevant and practical advice in this book. Importantly, driving or responding to digital disruption is ultimately all about the people in the organisation. This is highlighted throughout: humble leaders who treat others with respect and build aligned teams with shared values. I'd love to work in such an organisation. Leigh Jasper, co-founder and CEO at Aconex
