Overview

An electrifying fictional dramatization based on the Angelo (Lo) Roberts story. Angelo Roberts legend as one of Chicago's most notorious gangsters has been documented by the History Channel's Gangland series and several independent documentaries. This story is a fictional depiction of those events that led to one of the most audacious plots of vengeance against the Chicago Police Department in history. The main character is caught in this crossfire of conflict, ambition and revenge while straddling the fence of loyalty between his gang and his girl. The young banger, Face, becomes a pawn in a deadly drug war with a rival gang that becomes an even deadlier internal strife. The birth of Face's new born child tips the scale of his allegiance. But he soon realizes that in the game a pawn is the only piece that can't retreat. Not since Eric Monte's 1975 'Coolie High' has there been someone to more accurately capture the true essence of Chicago This is a story familiar to anyone growing up in the hood anywhere in the US. With all the usual elements of dope, disappointment, death, police misconduct. But with an unparalleled authenticity based on eye witnessed accounts, rap sheets, rumors and imagination. (Disclaimer) Though 'Diaries of Chiraq' is truly inspired by actual events. It is by no means intended to be a factual account of these events. Nor is it an actual depiction of any of the street gangs or members mentioned in this story. With utmost respect to the Black Gangster Disciple's and Vice Lords organization's founders and members, the characterization of these organizations was solely for making the story authentically Chicago.
