Excerpt from Deutsche Stich-und Hieb-Worte: Eine Abhandlung ber Deutsche Scheltspott Nachfolgende Arbeit ist eine Vorlesung, welche ich am 24. April im deutschen Verein f r Kunst und Wissen schaf in London gehalten habe. Auf den Wunsch einiger Freunde entschloss ich mich, dieselbe drucken zu lassen. Dieser Entschluss veranlasste mich, die urspr ngliche Vor lesung etwas zu erweitern und einige Theile ausf hrlicher zu behandeln. Doch wollte und durfte ich ein gewisses Mass nicht berschreiten. Ich maste mich in der Auswahl und Behandlung des Stoffes einschr nken. Es war dieses keine leichte Aufgabe bei dem unersch pflichen Reichthum des Gegenstandes.
