Author Information

DANIEL SHANSKY packed a lot into his 66 years of living. He was a musician by choice and training, a teacher in the New York City school system, a role model, a composer, an author, a poet, a husband, a father, a brother and a friend. He had a passion for learning about anything that his mind questioned. Born in 1920, Dan was the first of 4 siblings that would be raised by his mother, Irene. As it happens, Dan was even more productive when he retired. After 25 years as head of the Instrumental Music Department of Nathan Hale Junior High School, he commandeered his son's old bedroom in their Brooklyn home, converted it into his office and started working again. It was there for the next 10 years he would write 2 novels, 10 short stories, and 2 fully scored Operettas and Cantatas for orchestra, chorus and soloists based on historical or religious themes. Dan passed away never having seen any of his new work, published or performed by a professional orchestra or chorus
