Author Information

Bart Moeyaert was born in Belgium. He has written screenplays, plays, short stories, and poetry. Beginning with his first book, his writing has won a wide variety of European literary and cinematic awards. In 2004 Moeyaert was nominated a third time for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, and in 2006 he was named poet laureate of the city of Antwerp, where he lives. His young-adult novels available in English translation from Front Street include Hornet's Nest and It's Love We Don't Understand. About the latter, Publishers Weekly wrote in a starred review, Through the voice of his innocent yet keenly observant and compassionate narrator, the author eloquently expresses the nuances and subtleties of the relationships that shape the person she is becoming. Wanda Boeke has many translations of prose and poetry to her credit, including Renate Dorrestein's Unnatural Mothers, an IMPAC Dublin Literary Award nominee. Her Front Street work includes Bart Moeyaert's It's Love We Don't Understand and Ineke Holtwijk's Asphalt Angels (Batchelder Honor Award, ALA's Best Books for Young Adults, and IRA's Notable Books for a Global Society booklists). She lives in New England.
