English review follows Llyfr wedi ei lenwi hyd yr ymylon â gwybodaeth am ramadeg y Gymraeg yw hwn. Mae’n cael ei gyflwyno mewn ffordd hwylus a chyda hiwmor mewn geiriau, cartwnau a ffotograffau. Mae’r llyfr wedi ei rannu’n Adrannau sy’n ymdrin ag agweddau gramadegol penodol – Berfau, Arddodiaid, Y Fannod, Ansoddeiriau, Enwau, Rhagenwau, Adferfau, Rhifolion, a Chymalau. Mae pob Adran wedi ei rhannu’n Gamau yn ôl lefel anhawster, gydag ymarferion adolygu ar ddiwedd pob pum Cam. Mae disg mewn poced yng nghefn y llyfr sy’n cynnwys 2,000 o ymarferion. Mae nifer ohonyn nhw yn y llyfr, ond mae llawer ohonyn nhw yn ychwanegol at y llyfr. Un ateb sydd i bob un o’r ymarferion ar y disg, ac mae’r atebion cywir i’w cael arno. Mae’r gweithgareddau yn amrywiol - cyfieithu i’r Gymraeg, llenwi bylchau, uno cymalau, treiglo, cywiro gwallau. Maen nhw wedi eu rhannu dan yr un penawdau ag Adrannau’r llyfr, gydag ymarferion pob Adran wedi eu rhannu’n gamau sydd yn cynyddu o ran lefel gwybodaeth. Gallwch chi felly weithio drwy’r Adrannau gan ddewis Cam 1 pob adran i ddechrau ac yna Gam 2, ac yn y blaen, a’u gwirio yn erbyn yr atebion cywir wrth fynd ymlaen. At ddysgwyr profiadol a siaradwyr rhugl mae’r llyfr hwn wedi ei anelu. Dim ond y Gymraeg a ddefnyddir ynddo, ond mae geirfa Cymraeg–Saesneg berthnasol wedi ei chynnwys yn y cefn. Mae yma gasgliad gwerthfawr o idiomau hefyd. Ceir rhestr cynnwys fanwl iawn ym mlaen y llyfr, ac mae’r mynegai yn y cefn wedi ei rannu’n ddwy restr, sef mynegai i eiriau unigol a mynegai yn ôl termau gramadegol. Mae hyn i gyd, a’r ffaith bod blociau duon ar ymylon allanol y tudalennau i ddangos lle mae’r Adrannau yn dechrau a gorffen ac yn nodi rhif y Cam, yn ei wneud yn hwylus iawn i gyfeirio ato. Llinos Dafis * * * This book is packed with information about Welsh grammar. Its presentation is user friendly and the humour in the text, and the inclusion of cartoons and photographs, make for pleasurable reading. The book is divided into Sections concentrating on specific grammatical points – Verbs, Prepositions, the Article, Adjectives, Nouns, Pronouns, Adverbs, Numerals and Clauses. Each Section is divided into Steps according to difficulty, with revision exercises at the end of every fifth Step. A disc is included in a pocket at the back of the book containing 2,000 exercises, a number of which appear in the book itself, but a large number of which are in addition to the book. All the exercises on the disc have only one possible answer, and the correct answers are provided on the disc. The activities are varied – translation into Welsh, filling gaps, joining clauses, mutations, correcting mistakes. The exercises are divided under the same headings as those in the book, with exercises within each Section divided into progressive Steps. You can therefore work through the Sections choosing Step 1 of each Section first, then Step 2 and so on, and checking them against the correct versions as you proceed. Cymraeg Da is aimed at experienced learners and fluent speakers. Only Welsh is used throughout, but a Welsh-English glossary of relevant terms is included in the book. There is also a valuable anthology of Welsh idioms. There is a detailed Contents list at the beginning, and two lists of indices are provided at the end, the first indexing individual words and the second grammatical terms. All this, together with the fact that black blocks are used on the outer edge of each page to denote the beginning and end of each Section and the Step number, make for great ease of reference. -- Llinos Dafis @ www.gwales.com
