OverviewA large variety of spent fuels from research reactors around the world are currently stored underwater in basins. Most of this fuel is clad in aluminium based alloys that are susceptible to corrosion in water. Studies have shown that the important problem of localized corrosion is a very complex phenomenon and difficult to predict.
