Overview

Copper the basset hound travels the world with his friend, Amanda, while she digs on archaeological sites. On this trip to Qumran, an ancient city next to the Dead Sea, this adventurous dog follows his nose up the nearby cliffs and into a cave. There he meets a new friend who gives him a scroll that was made by Qumran's first-century residents and prophesies Jesus's birth. This book features a Page for Parents that explains the historical facts behind the story, grades 1-3 reading level, 34 pages of edge-to-edge full-color illustrations, and durable heavyweight pages with a glued binding (no staples!). Join Copper as he learns all about scribes, scrolls, and promises!

Reviews

I was so excited to receive an early copy of this book. My children are 4 and 7 years old, and both of them loved it. The pictures are beautiful, and the story is fun. I really appreciated the page for parents in the back of the book that taught me more about the history of the Dead Sea Scrolls so I could explain to my older daughter which parts of the book were fact and which were fiction. My family loves exploring Israel with Copper, and we can't wait for his next adventure! -Andrea in Ohio I am a pastor and a big fan of Amanda's other books. She has a great way of telling stories to us adults, and I was so happy to hear that she was creating something for kids. Copper Finds a Scroll is a beautiful book that my five-year-old loved immediately. I had trouble reading the story at first because he wanted to count all of the fireflies and tell me what the illustrations were. He loves Copper and the big adventure into the cave. I love that this story will grow with him, and one day I'll be able to use it to explain how Scripture has been preserved for us to today. -Blake in Georgia
