She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Russian Studies (1994) and went on to complete two years of graduate work at The University of Kansas in the field of Slavic Languages and Literatures. After dropping out of graduate school, she took several odd jobs before working at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes(R) teaching remedial reading, math, and language comprehension. She returned to school to get a degree in Waldorf education to provide balance to her Lindamood Bell training (Rudolf Steiner College, Fair Oaks, 2005). Jennifer Militzer-Kopperl's first book is The Roadmap to Literacy: A Guide to Teaching Language Arts in Waldorf Schools Grades 1 through 3, which she co-authored with Janet Langley. Continuing the Journey to Literacy: A Guide to Teaching Language Arts in Waldorf Schools Grades 4 through 8 is Militzer-Kopperl's second book, and it is the sequel to The Roadmap to Literacy. Together, The Roadmap to Literacy and Continuing the Journey to Literacy comprise a complete language arts curriculum for Waldorf schools grades 1-8. This program is called the Renewal of Literacy.
