Carol Falender, PhD, is co-author of multiple books on supervision and consultation, including Supervision Essentials for the Practice of Competency-Based Supervision (APA, 2016); Clinical Supervision: A Competency-Based Approach (APA, 2004); and Multiculturalism and Diversity in Clinical Supervision: A Competency-Based Approach (APA, 2014) with Edward Shafranske and Celia Falicov. She was a member of the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards Supervision Guidelines Group, chair of the Supervision Guidelines Task Force of the Board of Educational Affairs of APA, and recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Career Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology Award. Edward Shafranske, PhD, ABPP, is Professor and Director of the PsyD Program in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University.  He has published widely in the fields of clinical training and supervision and serves on a number of editorial boards. A fellow of APA (Divisions 12, 29, and 36), he has served as president of APA Division 36 and been recognized for his contributions by the California Psychological Association. In addition, he serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine; maintains a private clinical practice; and serves as a consultant to clinicians, academic programs, and religious institutions.
