OverviewThis abstracts volume (including full keynote and invited papers) contains the proceedings of the 5th International Symposium on Cone Penetration Testing (CPT’22), held in Bologna, Italy, 8-10 June 2022. More than 500 authors - academics, researchers, practitioners and manufacturers – contributed to the peer-reviewed papers included in this book, which includes three keynote lectures, four invited lectures and 169 technical papers. The contributions provide a full picture of the current knowledge and major trends in CPT research and development, with respect to innovations in instrumentation, latest advances in data interpretation, and emerging fields of CPT application. The paper topics encompass three well-established topic categories typically addressed in CPT events: - Equipment and Procedures - Data Interpretation - Applications. Emphasis is placed on the use of statistical approaches and innovative numerical strategies for CPT data interpretation, liquefaction studies, application of CPT to offshore engineering, comparative studies between CPT and other in-situ tests. Cone Penetration Testing 2022 contains a wealth of information that could be useful for researchers, practitioners and all those working in the broad and dynamic field of cone penetration testing. He spent a Marie Curie Research Fellowship at the Universities of Oxford and Southampton (UK), where he developed his research on the analytical modelling of the behaviour of shallow foundations under general loading, with special reference to offshore innovative applications. Author of about 150 scientific papers, his more recent research interests include the geotechnical characterization by CPT, the assessment of the probability of failure of river embankments under transient flow, the stability analysis of towers, the physical and numerical modelling of the response of falling rock protection barriers. He is member of ISSMGE Technical Committees TC102 on In-Situ Testing and TC209 on Offshore Geotechnics. Laura Tonni obtained a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the Technical University of Torino. Since 2004 she has been a member of the Academic Staff at the University of Bologna and she currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering. Her research interests mainly include geotechnical characterization through in situ tests, with special reference to intermediate soil deposits, seismic liquefaction, stability of river embankments and mitigation of backward erosion piping phenomena. She is member of the ISSMGE Technical Committees TC102 ""In-situ testing"" and TC201 ""Dykes and Levees""." Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
