Overview

This is the second book in a three-book series on families during the Revolutionary War in the South. The story is based on multiple factual events with fictional characters. In this story, a young man gets married, moves to the Colonies, ending up in the Charleston, South Carolina area. The main character and his wife buy a slave couple who becomes their best friends and partners in a rice plantation. Their families grow up playing and working together. In Fight for Freedom, our characters work with General Francis Marion(The Swamp Fox) to thwart the British in their endevors to re-enslave the colony. They witness the fight with the British in Yorktown, Virginia and the battle for Charlestown. In all the trials the young man and his family go through, they look to their faith in each other to pull them through...

Author Information

Rev. Dale Swofford is a former United Methodist Pastor, professional diver, US Navy veteran, yacht broker and Boy Scoutmaster. He has hiked the Appalachian Trail and sailed across the Atlantic in an 82-foot wooden schooner. He was raised and is currently living in Cleveland County, North Carolina. Dale has severe dyslexia and did not read his first book until he was 25 years old. He now has his Bachelor's Degree (BA) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his Master of Divinity Degree (MDiv.) from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina. His love of American history has led him to write several books of historical fiction, including Goin' South: In Search of Equality and Colonial Patriot: Turning Point. Soon to be released is the third book in the trilogy, Colonial Patriot: Pirates and Spies.
