He holds an MS in Geophysics from the University of Bucharest, Romania, and a PhD in Geology from the University of Oklahoma. He has authored, co-authored and edited numerous books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles. He was awarded two Visiting Scientist Fulbright Fellowships in 1993 and 2018.
