OverviewEveryone grows up. We don't remain babies or children forever. A child that does not grow is a child who dies. There are no exceptions--mature or die. This is true for our bodies, but what about our minds? What about our hearts? What about our understanding and relationship with God through Jesus Christ? When we first came to Jesus, we were just baby Christians. We first believed in Jesus. We chose to repent of our old life in order to pursue a new life in Christ. We were baptized, represented by dying to our old life and rising to a resurrected life by the Holy Spirit. These are all part of our rebirth. Our sins have been forgiven. We have been born again by God's Spirit. It is like the birth of a new child. A new life is conceived, and after nine months, a brand-new baby human is born. And in like manner, we all start out as brand-new infant Christians. Now we must start the process of growing up and becoming mature in Christ. Maturity in Christ is a requirement for each individual Christian and for the body of Christ in order to be functional and filled with life--individually and as a body. The Bible has much to say about growing up and becoming mature. Discover what this could mean for your life and the life of your church.
